Introduction

This paper discusses the Training and Development (T&D) function of Tesco PLC. Founded by Jack Cohen in 1919 as a small market store in East End London, Tesco has grown tremendously over the years and now operates in twelve countries around the world, with a total workforce of over 530,000 employees. The store serves nearly millions of customers each week and is considered a pioneer chain of super markets across the globe (Tescoplc.com, 2012).
