In this paper, we have taken the research Article that is “Do Amnesics Exhibit cognitive dissonance reduction? The role of Explicit Memory and Attention in Attitude Change, the article is written by Mathew, Liberman, Kevin and et.al. In this article there are two studies that have taken, in both the studies the article investigating the roles of explicit memory and attential resources in the process of behavior induced attitude change.
Background
Amnesia is a partial or complete loss of memory. Permanent condition or transient, congenital or acquired, it can be organic (due to brain damage as a tumor, Korsakoff's syndrome, head trauma, an episode anoxic or ischemic, disease neurological, the absorption of some products or drugs such submission), functional (psychological disorders such as post-traumatic stress, illness psychiatric) or considered in psychoanalysis as a defense mechanism against the anxiety against anxiety or painful memories.
Literature
Many diseases and accidents can cause amnesic syndrome. Among the best known and studied:
the Korsakoff syndrome ;
stroke and aneurysm rupture;
progressive amnesia associated with dementia;
Brain tumors.
The memory problems can occur outside the context of amnesic syndrome, as is the case in some severe depression, which can evoke the clinical amnesia. A sudden loss of memory is usually the result of a head injury and this may be temporary or permanent. The regions that comprise the explicit memory circuit receive information from the neocortex and systems of the brain stem systems including cholinergic, serotonergic and noradrenergic.
In various situations that arise in everyday life, the dissonance can increase or diminish - it all depends on the problem that confronts the man. Thus, the degree of dissonance will be minimal if the people, for example, will give money to a beggar on the street, which (as shown) is in great need of alms. On the contrary, the degree of dissonance will increase many times, if the man is a serious test, but he is not trying to prepare for it. Dissonance can occur (and occur) in any situation where a man is going to make a choice. Moreover, the degree of dissonance will grow depending on how important this choice for the individual.
Theory and Concepts
In this article following theory has been applied:
Dissonance Theory
It explains the conflicts that often arise "in the cognitive structure of one man". The theory seeks to explain and explore the state of cognitive dissonance that occurs in humans as a reaction to a certain situation, the actions of individuals or a group, that is, its internal state and emotions. Cognitive dissonance is due to mismatch of the two “cognitions "(or" knowledge") of the individual. An individual having information on any subject, is forced to ignore it when making a decision. As a consequence, there is a discrepancy ("Dissonance") between plants and real human behavior.
As a result of this behavior is a change of some (in which the situation is somehow influenced by) human systems, and to justify this change can be based on the fact that a person is vital to maintain the consistency ...
