Introduction

The purpose of this study is to expand the boundaries of our knowledge by exploring some relevant facts and figures relating to the phenomenon of “social desirability bias. In this paper, we will advise some researchers employed by the university who are undertaking a study of how a much time a diverse group of post graduate master students spend on academic work each week and what they do in this time. In this paper, we will examine the impact of social desirability on the study of diverse group.

Discussion & Analysis

Social desirability would be located at the interface between the psychological and sociology of students, thereby contributing to the problem of its General psychological balance. This aspiration appears as processes structuring the relationship between the internal and expression versus self or towards others. Making a "good impression" can be interpreted to give an impression likely to appeal to self and / or others, that is to say, give an appearance of conformity to the stereotypes (Ray, 1984, pp. 133-134). These socio-normative conformism promote positive responses from others, and then they contribute to the development of estimates and provide a sense of security.

In education, social desirability is constructed by socialization of the student in a given culture. Following Durkheim and holistic approach, this socialization is vital: the student cannot exist and "be well "without integration with the other. Following this perspective, the distinction between self-deception becomes the least interesting (Nauta, 2007, pp. 446-462):

lack of social desirability is a form of social blindness;

deception correspond to the shape of a fence between the self and identity to others

students featuring their social or professional life so that they interact appropriately with others in a adjusted distance

Self-deception would appear as a form of internalization, and the individual receive the most as external standards.

In this sense, the self-deception would constitute as an alignment of the psychological and sociological form, thereby most reassuring factor of the integration. However, the literature on institutional involvement indicates some limits of welfare: these students may become very involved, by their social desirability, overly dependent and vulnerable to recognition of others, which could ultimately enable a report to another anxiety.
