Introduction
Industrialization and technological advancements in nineteenth century resulted in the growth of organizations and corporations with more developed systems and legislation. In order to resolve problems of management and employees there was a term “human resource management” that treats employees as the major resource, and at the same time it was more complicated to control due to social and psychological concerns with human beings (www.cipd.co.uk). This was the reason that human resource management deals with allocation of this resource according to their skills and abilities. HRM also deals with the improvement of their efficiency through motivation and various leadership strategies.
Motivation is the most important factor to control and manage human resource. Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is one of the organizations of Europe that has over 135,000 members, and is the leading organisation for HR professionals in the UK and Ireland (www.cipd.co.uk). “The CIPD is committed to playing a leading role in ensuring that HR professionals, organisations and the profession as a whole, are able to grasp the very real opportunities available now and in the future” (www.cipd.co.uk). Advancement of technology and increase in the global competition imposed threat for organizations to maintain future sustainability. Therefore, CIPD provide different strategies, assistance, training, and guidance for the leadership practices and management of human resource.
Background
One of the main concerns for the business organizations and companies is to earn maximum profit and success in the business world. This is what most companies aim at, but unfortunately, most of the companies face failure due to various reasons. There are various reasons for the failure of the company; most important are the lack of proper planning, misallocation of resources, lack of proper management and leadership, inappropriate business strategies, no advancement in the business technology and lack of research and development.
One of the major reasons is lack of motivation according to the needs of employees and changes in the time. There are continuous changes in the business environment all over the world. There are always changes and restructuring of business organizations, for improvement in the different business features such as business goals, targets, future plans about profit maximization, changes in leadership and management etc, but most of the companies lack advancements and changes in the motivational techniques according to the change of time. This results in lack of understanding the needs of the employees, which creates problem for both employees and organizations, such as lack of interest in work results in poor performance of employees, decrease productivity and loss for the organization. Therefore, motivation and changes in motivational strategies with the time are the major factors for the success of an organization.
