The key audience of this paper is the youth population aging from 15 to 25 years. According to Central of disease control and Prevention, 3800 of adult population in US smoke or use tobacco on daily basis and are of age below 18, and out of these initial smokers 1000 of youth population get habitual of this bad habit permanently. As per estimates, 19.5% of high school students were surveyed and found to be smokers in 2009, out of which 19.1% are female and 19.8% are male population at high school level. With respect to ethnicity and race, 9.5% of smokers in high school are observed to be blacks, non Hispanic,, 18% are found to be Hispanic, and 22.5% are observed to be whites and non Hispanics. Similarly, 5.3% of middle school students are smokers, out of which 4.7% are females, 5.6% are males, 5.2% are blacks, and non Hispanics, 2,5% are Asians and non Hispanic, 6.7% are Hispanics, and 4.3% are whites and non Hispanics at middle school level. As per research the common factors leading to this adverse habit are low income level, lower social class, no restriction on usage of tobacco by elders, adapting this habit from media, lack of resistance, watching parent smoke, affordability of tobacco, access to items, low academic background, lower self esteem and respect, distorted and aggressive nature (2009).

Involving target audience in the public health campaign

In order to involve youth and adults in launched public health campaigns, projects and plans, government should establish small teams comprised of medical staff and government agencies that inspect and verify the outcomes of these projects in form of conducting surveys and interviews, conduct workshops, presentations, informative sessions, spread awareness among the target audience issues regarding adverse affects of smoking in ...
