It is the universally accepted fact that no one can live in isolation, whether it is an individual or a country, they all need to maintain a certain level of relationship with the neighbours and their status in the international arena. Every part of the world is distinctive in its own way the natural environment, stunning beauty of the nature and the secret origins of the natural resources are all novel features that make each member of the world regions' special and attractive. This essay is aimed at highlighting the various groups and actors who are involved in the policy making related to tourism (Scott, 2011, p. 3). It highlights the players whose actions and roles are critical to the effectiveness and enforcement of the tourism policy making enforced in the UK. An effort is made to highlight the level of influence these groups might have on the tourism policy making and development. The essay presents the changes that have occurred in their roles and influence over time.
Public policy is basically defined as an action of government which is taken by the administration of the state in order to provide some guiding principles to the citizens regarding some law related issues and institutional customs. A tourism policy is a well planned outline of actions which are laid down for guiding a tour related objectives and goals. It is a statement which drives the vision and provides facilities to any organization or government. Whereas, a framework of the tourism policy is comprised of some points that highlights the main purpose of making that policy regarding tourism, and also states the people who are involved in the policy making and also such people who get influence from it (Williams & Shaw, 1991, p. 291). The analysis and discussion is supported with the use of suitable examples where appropriate. In the UK, tourism has become one of the biggest industries with the third largest source of export earnings for the UK economy. The estimated figures show that around £90billion per Annum is directly spent on tourism which is comprised of the 200, 000 businesses and has been providing around 4.4% of the nation's jobs (Penrose, 2011, p. 7).
The UK department of culture, media and sport, is aimed at improving the quality of life for every citizen of the UK through the cultural and sporting activities and the strengthening of the creative industries. The approach had been adopted to prepare the local cultural strategies that have brought together all the culturally related subjects (Bullock et. al., 2001, p. 74).
