E-retailing reduces the number of cost overheads such as cost related to storage, display space and workers' salaries and allows an organization to earn a profit. E-retailing provides an effective way to start a different business at low cost (Chinta, 2006).

This facilitates access to customers from all over the world via the web site. In the business, of e-retailing every internet user is a potential customer, therefore, the business of e-retail offers increase in sales. Electronic sales are an easy way to attract customers. It attracts those customers who do not have enough time to shop or do not have the time to go to the market. E-retailing provides new outlets that reach directly to customers without the presence of any intermediary. On the contrary, there are many disadvantages of e-retailing. Several studies have shown that the reasons for the failure of e- retail lies in meeting the demands and needs of customers through the internet. E-retailers have merely one chance to leave a favourable impression on customers after that it depends on customer whether he comes again or not. In addition to this, there is an issue of security and trust. Customers feel hesitation in providing information that is required for the transaction o internet (Roger, 2006). Another limitation related to the conducting business online is that only few products can be offered to customers. For instance, books can be sold online but for products like shoes that require customers to experience the product cannot be sold through e-retailing (Sustar, 2005).
