Moral conflict may arise due to misunderstandings, aggressive communication, mistrust, negative stereotyping and lack of negotiations. Moral conflicts can be intolerable for the parties facing it. It would be intolerable for the client. Moral conflict is a situation in which the subject is confronted with the necessity of a choice of one of two mutually exclusive behaviours, or, more generalized and abstract definition, one of the two moral values. The purpose of conflict resolution is to reach a valid solution to a conflict without going through coercion (French 1998, 174).
