WIC is a federally-funded health and nutrition program for women, infants, and children. WIC Helps Families by providing checks for buying healthy supplemental foods from WIC-authorized vendors, nutrition education, and help finding healthcare and other community services. Thus, in the context of this paper we would be focusing on how WIC program can be efficient enough to cure the disease of childhood obesity.

Health Problem
The problem that will be highlighted in the context of this paper tends to be Childhood Obesity. This problem has not only strengthened its roots in the whole world. United States of America in this regard is no exception and more specifically Childhood Obesity has seen a rise in the State of North Carolina. Therefore, in the course of this paper we intend to discuss the issue of Childhood Obesity in the state of North Carolina more specifically in order to fulfill the requirements of the paper along with the fact to develop a better understanding of the subject.
Introduction
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), obesity has reached a far elevated stage as compared to the past years. The figures in this regard are frightening and alarming regarding the increasing number of cases. Today, more than one billion adults are overweight and of those, at least 300 million are obese. The growth of childhood obesity in United States is spectacular and worrying and demands to be dealt on the war footings. However, before moving further in the context of this paper to identify the real reason behind the childhood obesity and the ways to deal with it. It is important to understand what child obesity actually is in so that the right path can be identified in terms of moving forward in the course of this paper. Obesity is the excessive accumulation of body fat, especially in adipose tissue, and that can be perceived by the gain in the body weight when it reaches 20 percent over ideal weight for age, height, and sex of child in this regard needs to be kept in mind.
This issue if not dealt on war footings can have detrimental effects on the whole nation. Childhood obesity over the past decade has seen a rise and to gauge it the fact needs to be presented which demands that since the nineties until today, the incidence of childhood obesity has almost doubled in the United States of America. However, there are various reasons cited for it which ranges from lack of physical activity, diet which tends to inculcate high calorie, junk food and similar other factors (Debasis, 2010). However, the issue of concern with regard to this paper is that the chance of children from low-income families to suffer from obesity tends to be high as compared to relatively better earning families or the families which tends to have better socio-economic status.
