The objective of the members of the foundation is increase the base of support community to encourage the educational and academic development of Wayne Community College. The need was realized that Wayne County and the State of North Carolina were unable to meet the educational needs of the student and hence the foundation was established and further it was the need of time to fund new programs and to enhance the quality of education, public sector institution must rely on the private source fund. Therefore, the board of trustee of the college considering all the above mentioned requirements in June 1986 laid the foundation of Foundation of Wayne Community College (Waynecc, 2012).
The Wayne Community College Foundation is the link for those who want to invest and the Wayne Community College students. Different civic organizations, individuals and business organization have funded different kind of projects and provided number of scholarships to deserving students.
Campus Layout
The total main campus area of Wayne Community College is 175 acres and is located in Goldsboro, NC at 3000 Wayne Memorial Drive. More than 360,000 square feet is covered with eleven model buildings. The classes, offices, laboratories and child care center are built on the state of the art technology and one will find no further room for perfection.
The hanger and aviation class rooms are located at Executive Jetport of Wayne. While the continuing and curriculum educational courses are offered at the air base of Seymour Johnson and other different locations throughout Wayne County.
Admission and Registration Procedure
The process of admission and registration at Wayne Community College is very simple and easy and is based upon 'open door' policy. Students who are graduates or equivalent (GED) or above the age of eighteen years are eligible to take an admission in the college. If a student is interested to enroll in a specific course which requires the prerequisite for the course, then student is required to produce evidence for meeting the course requirement. The admission policy of the college is free of any biasness of age, color, sex, race, creed and disability (Waynecc, 2012).
The formal process of admission starts with the submission of important academic document along with duly filled application form and these documents includes high school transcript, GED certification, college transcript of previous works, residence status application and etc.
Some programs of the college like nursing and dental education require the passing of ACT or SAT test score. The next process of getting admission in college is testing of criminal records, health screening and drug testing. There are some limited seat programs in the college for example, Allied Health and those students who are interested in enroll such programs, they are required to fill the separate application forms and have to meet the additional admission requirement.
