Literature Review

Water conservation lessons for middle and high school students should focus on motivating students to think about the part each person plays, and the actions they can take in using and conserving water, each lesson includes demonstrations, experiments and classroom activities that enable students to learn about water management, conservation and preservation by linking abstract ideas and scientific concepts through fun, hands-on activities. As students work their way through the curriculum, they will discover the critical role water plays on planet Earth and how to manage it locally and globally to ensure a safe, clean water supply for future generations (Cordell et al, 2003). Water conservations plans should be taught to student in such a way that it builds importance and value of water as a scarce resource in the mind of children. This will create a self-responsibility to conserve the water. The curriculum for teaching water conservation lessons should include the basic idea of conservation, natural resources especially water and its importance and different ways to conserve water at a personal level. Keeping it simple and basic, the student will learn quickly and will take practical actions to conserve water and will also talk about it to family and friends.

Conservation can broadly be defined as the protection of biological diversity and natural resources from human-induced change. The concept of conservation has a range of meanings to different people. Over the course of history, conservation ideals have not only been used to save animals and plants from extinction, but also to promote ideas about land and agriculture, to colonize peoples, to promote nation building, to fight against social and political injustices and, most importantly, to provide sustainable resources for green business. Conservation is a process; it attempts to regulate and protect biodiversity and natural resources for the longer term (Atkins, 2003).

Today, the conservation of natural resources includes the general idea of ??saving the Earth by protecting the basics of life essentials. The most fundamental in all these natural resources is water. Without water, life on earth would not exist. Water conservation is defined as activities aimed at reducing water demand, improve its use and reduce losses and save waste. To protect water resources and the costs and benefits of restricting their use. This is achieved through measures such as water saving devices, the processes of water efficiency and management of water demand (Cunningham and Cunningham, 2008). The conservation of water plays an important role in the planning of water resources due to the difficulty of developing new water sources, trends in the increasing frequency of droughts, rising environmental concerns, and legal grounds, such as the right to drinking water (Alcamo et al, 2007).
