Introduction

Owing to the abundance of influential factors like technology, the environment, the size and life cycle of the organization and its strategy, it is not surprising that organizations adopt different structures in order to functions efficiently. The types of organizational structures can be classified into four basic categories. Apart from these four basic types, there also exist certain hybrid structures that are based on a combination of two, three or all four basic forms (MacKenzie, 1978).
