Introduction

Today's business environment is faced with many changes and the organizations need to be resilient in order to cope up with the upcoming changes, and keep it aligned with the advancements. The increasing innovation, technology and modernization has made it essential for organizations to design training and development programs and keep their employees up dated on a continuous basis. In the current business climate, the industries are faced with acute shortage of staff and required skills, and the stiff external and internal competition for the quality employees is faced by the companies. All those employers who work with the serious intention of investing in the field of training and development will ultimately harvest the benefits of an improved working environment. In such an environment, there exists enhanced productivity and higher levels of the staff retention (Reiser & Dempsey, 2012).

The ABC Company is planning to implement Capability Maturity Model integration. Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) provides an opportunity to avoid or eliminate these stovepipes and barriers through integrated models that transcend disciplines. CMMI for Development consists of best practices that address development and maintenance activities applied to products and services. It addresses practices that cover the product's lifecycle from conception through delivery and maintenance. The emphasis is on the work necessary to build and maintain the total product (Earle & Baechle, 2004).

The company provides extensive on the job training to its employees that help them in understanding the work process at the company. After getting on the job training, the employees are able to perform the job in a more efficient manner. The company not only provides training program to its new employees but also to its old senior employees. The company has designed a plan to increase the suggestive selling so that profits can be raised by enhancing efficiency. The company believes that by providing extensive training program to its employees, it can increase effectiveness among the employees and will help the company to increase its profits. The company wants to enhance its suggestive selling that is sort of new trend and employees do not have sufficient knowledge about it. Therefore it is needed to provide training program to the employees so that the company's goal of achieving profits can be attained. It will be beneficial for the company to develop and run such a training program. As the training program will need financial expenses by the company, the board of directors believes that the strategy for evaluating such a training program should be carried out.
