Introduction

Tourism holds a great importance for any country's economic growth. With the help of strong tourist destination a country can enhance its income generation, investments, higher job opportunities and improves the infrastructure throughout the country.

Tourism, the word derives from the French word tour, also adopted by the English language, which means a trip or journey ending back to the starting point. It is one of the fundamental characteristics of tourism. At the time of the middle Ages, the formation of the tourism started. Tourism and sightseeing tours including; hiking, playing sports, travelling for business or pleasure, curiosity or for entertainment is considered in the concept of tourism. It has been defined as “a social phenomenon, covering all phenomena related spatial mobility of voluntary, temporary change of residence, the rhythm of life and the environment, and the coming into personal contact with the environment visited: natural, cultural or social.” (Sharpley, 2002).

According to Sharpley, tourism is “the whole of the relations and phenomena related to travel and stays in some of those visitors, if the stay is not apparent from recital to settle and therefore does not involve any gainful activity.” (Sharpley, 2002). However, the tourist destination is defined as a zone or geographic area that is visited by tourists, has limits of physical, political context and market perception. From the point of view, both strategically and organizationally, the perimeters of fate are the relationships that are built between all productions units involved in tourism. These destinations are associated with certain factors which are important to consider for understanding the scope and need of tourism.

The purpose of the study is to focus on the main UK and worldwide tourist destination considering the number of visitors and income generation. The worldwide country I have selected is Bangladesh. The study will also highlight the cultural, social and physical aspect of the country. By analyzing the statistic of tourism one can gauge the potential of it and its affect on the country.

United Kingdom is one of the leading regions to be visited from all over the world. London, England has several attractive locations, attractions and historical destinations that one can visit. Most tourist pay a visit to the popular areas such as Clock Tower Big Ben, Palace and various other museums and art galleries (Singh et.al, 2003, n.d). The most famous is the Wax Museum, Natural History Museum and Tate Gallery where people can enjoy the great extensive work displayed on global art work. Madame Tussauds gives a great experience to the tourist as they are able to meet models of famous celebrities from all around the world.

London Eye is known to be the world's highest observation wheel which encompasses 32 capsules and holding up to 25 people.
