Introduction

Today's rapidly changing technological and business environment has given multiple benefits to businesses and changed the way of managing projects (Cleland & Roland, 2007). There is no doubt about the fact that modern way of quality management has allowed businesses to improve their ability to make decisions, plan their projects in an efficient way and control projects leading it towards the progress of meeting goals. Every project includes planning a project, implementing, controlling and identifying tasks and goals which are to be achieved (Besterfield, 2012). The role of Total Quality Management or TQM in projects cannot be avoided as every business in today's competitive marketplace is striving to produce high quality products and service for customers. This paper aims to discuss the issue of Total Quality Management in the context of project management.

The state of the art concept of Total Quality Management (TQM) is one of the most powerful tool for manufacturing and production to ensure the scheduled execution of the production plan, and when in response to customer demand. Similarly, at the same time quality management also effectively reduce the cost of manufacturing such as the cost of inventory backlog repair, maintenance costs and other administrative costs (Heerkens, 2007). In addition, total quality management also allows companies to reduce the probability of defective products from the past that the maintenance management to enhance production costs for the enterprise in one of the key projects of disorders competitiveness, and ultimately improve the enterprise's economic value added level. Total quality management activities through full participation and team work create and maintain excellent equipment management system in order to improve operation rate, enhance the security and quality, and improve the overall operational efficiency of the production system (Willmott & Mccarthy, 2001).

Theoretically, Total quality management has the following:

The requirements of the company, including senior management and all personnel into the Total quality management process;

Requires the authorized company employees can self correct operation;

Requires a longer operating life, this is because the Total quality management itself a process of development, implement TQM need about a year or even more time, but the company also takes time staff from the ideological shift.
