The main objective of every business is to earn profit, but there are many ethical issues in earning profits. The business should practice clear and just transactions and every business must be socially responsible. Every business should contribute towards the society improvement. The purpose if writing this paper is to evaluate the relationship between mission and social responsibility practices of “Greyston Bakery”.

Social Mission

The company's social mission is to induct hard-to-employee, for which the company follow open hiring practices where everyone can get a chance regardless of race and background. Company's profit goes to Greyston Foundation, which utilize it for health care, housing and childcare services.

Major Issue

The company serves the poor. Te main objective of the company is to reduce the level of poverty in the society. The company for this purpose gives everyone chance to work with them. If a person comes to the Greyston Bakery for the job than there is a guaranteed interview and a chance to be hired. This practice is known as “Open Hiring” in the firm. Company provides the employees a chance to raise their standard of living (Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, 2013).

Poverty is the main issue of the society and it can be addressed by providing employment to the unemployed peoples. The Greyston Bakery for this cause provides everyone a fair chance of employment. Poverty is the main cause of health related and social problems.

External Social Pressure

Society puts a pressure on the Bakery to provide employment so that everyone can have a chance of living a better life.
