Introduction

Social responsibility is a new concept; however, is spreading very quickly in the world. Companies are taking steps to include social responsibility as a major part of their business. Apart from the companies, students are also taking steps to make sure that they fulfill the social responsibility. This concept is included in the ethical behavior of the human beings so that they are able to behave and work in a manner that will help the other human beings and will also help in ensuring that the society and the environment is friendly and is not harming anyone. This paper will discuss the concept of social responsibility in the context of organizations with respect to leadership and sustainability.



Social Responsibility

Social responsibility is explained as an ethical ideology according to which organizations have to make sure that they act in a manner that benefits the society at large. This means that it is the duty of every company to make sure that it performs and maintains a balance between its operations and work that it does for the betterment of the society (Cooperrider, 2008). It should make sure no one in the society is facing adverse impacts from the business that it is operating and the work that the company is doing. Chemical producing factories and industries are mainly the ones that are harming the people and its surroundings. There are very few instances like these; however, it is stressed that companies undertake activities that help the environment and the society to become a better place.

Discussion

It is emphasized that the companies undertake activities that will help them in making their business socially responsible. Such activities are known as Corporate Social Responsibilities. These activities are the ones that help the companies in ensuring that their reputation is improved and the quality of work that they are doing is also improved. This helps them in gaining more consumers and in making sure that the business that they are doing is conducted in an ethical manner. This section of the paper will discuss social responsibility in my organization and how it relates to leadership and sustainability.

Social Responsibility, Leadership and Sustainability

My organization is involved in the production and manufacturing of T-shirts in the United States. The company's industry where the t-shirts are produced are the ones that have to follow the guidelines and have to ensure that the social responsibility is ensured as the mixing of the colors and other activities emit a lot of hazardous gases (Hopkins, Et.al, 2009). These are not good for the health of the human beings. In order to ensure social responsibility, my company has set the industry in a very sparsely populated area. This is where there are no or very less people around so that they are not adversely impacted by the emission of the gases.

The area of the industry is also chosen by keeping in mind that there are not many plants or animals around, as well and they are not negatively impacted ...
