The Service Location Protocol (SLP, srvloc) is a service discovery protocol that permits computers and other apparatus to find services in a local locality network without former configuration. SLP has been conceived to scale from little, unmanaged systems to large enterprise networks. It has been defined in RFC 2608 and RFC 3224 as Standards Track document.

According to the delineations granted in the RFC 2608 specification, a location is a topologically exact and entitled entity on a localized mesh of any elongation, and that is not any geographic or else topographic or geometric location.
