Introduction

It is heartbreaking every time when you lose the ones you love and care about because of guns. Currently in Chicago, even though violent crime has decreased over the last few years, there are still numerous deaths that have occurred as the outcome of crimes. The majority of these tragedies are caused by guns. More and more people are using a gun today to keep themselves and their family safe from criminals. Conversely, I think having a gun around the house or carrying a gun is extremely risky and precarious. Now allow me to explain how and why?

To begin with and most importantly, it is really dangerous to have a gun in the house especially when you have kids around, for instance, little kids at the age of 8 to 17. When kids are young and immature, they consider everything they see a "toy" and they can't tell what is real and what is not real. Under the influences of the violence on T.V, they can copy exactly what these people do on television such as shooting at other people. Imagine when a child wants to pretend her or himself a hero on the television and playing around with a gun as a toy. What do you think is going to happen next? There is a high chance for kids either injure or even kill their neighbors!

Iit is also a bad idea to have a gun when you are using it in the wrong ways. A couple years ago, I saw depressing international news from the internet. It was about a man named John Kelley who shot his wife under the influence of drugs and alcohol by accident and then killed himself the next morning after he found his wife's dead body. As you can see, this man could hardly control his temper and killed his own lovely wife. Therefore, how can you say guns are the best and the safest protection? Instead of using the gun to protect his family, he killed her with it!

It is complex and expensive to purchase a gun. First, you need to complete the gun safety training course in order to buy a gun. Once you finish the course and receive your certificate, you need to apply for your gun permit in the county. Unusually a gun permit costs about $90-$120 and lasts about 3 to 5 years. Just a gun by itself cost you hundreds of dollars depending on what type of gun you are getting.

Gun control, as we know it, consists of the government restricting the ability of individual citizens to purchase weapons. The different types of gun control vary from waiting periods between when you purchase the gun and when you actually get it, background checks so that high-risk people can't purchase guns through legal channels, and completely banning certain types of guns.
