Current age is the age of modern inventions, and these inventions are very useful for us. Radio frequency identification is one the latest inventions. This technology is very helpful in the application and handling of manufacturing goods and materials. The cause behind its popularity is that, it works without the requirement of line of sight. RFID tags sustain a larger set of limited IDs than bar codes, and can incorporate extra data such as merchandise type, manufacturer, and even compute ecological aspect for instance temperature. Human support does not require in the operation of RFID. This technology takes so much time to be on the main stream, to be part of the organizational system or business scenario because of the cost concern.
RFID Working Principle
There are two main types of RFID's active and passive.
The working of RFID
Active RFID
Active tags are normally battery operated tags. The life time of the tag is limited because of the use of batteries. For example the tags attached with the luggage of the aircraft recognize by the RFID receiver and it sends the require information about the luggage to the network at the airport. The use of batteries in active tags makes it non practical device for use in business (Want, R. 2006).
Passive RFID
In this type of RFID's, there is no need of batteries or maintenance. The life of tag becomes increase and it useful for retail trade and easily applicable by means of adhesives. It consists of three parts, a semiconductor chip which is attached with the antenna, an antenna, and some type of encapsulation as a body. The reader of the tag is responsible for communicating and providing the power source (Weinstein, 2005). The antenna present on the device sends the information to the receiver. The plastic cover protects the chip and antenna from the rough ecological conditions. The plastic cover is made up of laminar artificial plastic which is protecting cover the antenna. Two methods use for sending the information are the magnetic induction and electromagnetic wave capturing method. (Want, R. 2006). Here, some pictures of RFID readers
Impact of RFID on Organizations
RFID is one of the most recent equipment with potential which can enhance their business process. The use of RFID is not within an organization, but also has an impact on the business market. Efficiency of the management of supply chain have increased because the use of RFID (Radio frequency identification). A rising number of organizations in UK have high hopes from RFID because by using this technology the production and perfection of work in an organization can be increase Most of the manufacturing companies or industries, and international organization, where a large number of goods are being transported or manufactured, the price or cost incorrectness due to lack of line of sight, is very high. The outcome of this scenario results in the mistaken order placement or fulfillment, and not in favor of production and directly impacts ...
