The dissimilarities Between Inductive And Deductive study And Quantitative And Qualitative Principles
Part 1 The Differences Between Inductive And Deductive Research
Difference between Inductive and Deductive Research
The deductive approach starts with general ideas (eg, theories, laws, principles) and on this basis, the formation of specific hypotheses that can be checked in order to support the general ideas. If the hypothesis is confirmed, you can say that the initial (general) idea was indeed correct.
On the other hand, the inductive approach starts with the concrete things - observations of individual Cases, for example. Based on the accumulation of such observations, you can build an idea that observation. Inductive approach is often compared to what detectives do.(see Table 3) They gather small evidence and information about criminal place (specific items) and pin down the killer (theory). Social Studies (which we learn in the classroom) often requires a deductive approach, rather than an inductive approach. One example might be: When the computer meditated communication (e-mail, for example) were introduced, researchers initially believed that such information will not be people thin, emotional expressions. This line of thinking has led researchers to the theory of communication - the media richness.(see Table 7) Theory says that every Wednesday we human use, has some potential transmission of information (including factual and emotional). face-to-face communication situation, communicators can exchange more subtle (and not just the information itself fatual) information. Based on the theory of the wealth of the media, researchers have hypotheses, computer-mediated communications are more appropriate for the exchange of factual information, rather than social or emotional information. They have gathered empirical data, making many experiments to do surveys and field studies to see if the hypothesis is true.
The deductive approach starts with general ideas (eg, theories, laws and principles) and on that basis, the formation of specific hypotheses that can be checked in order to support the general ideas. If the hypothesis is confirmed, you can say that the initial (general) idea was indeed correct(Oaksford, 2002, p. 184).
On the other hand, the inductive approach starts with the concrete things - observations of individual Cases, for example. Based on the accumulation of such observations, you can build an idea that observation. Inductive approach is often compared to what detectives do. They gather small evidence and information about criminal place (specific items) and pin down the killer (Heit, 2007, p. 17). Social Studies (which we learn in the classroom) often requires a deductive approach, rather than an inductive approach.
Application of Methods
The Deductive Approach
Opinions were divided among researchers about what constitutes lawful and justified an investigation of knowledge in specific situations. In fact, there appear two diametrically opposite points of view. On the one hand, there are "experimenter", "hypothetico-deductive" or "positivist" and other "naturalistic," "contextual" or "interpretation" (Gormon, 2005, p. 43). One comes from the need to test the theory and other developments of the theory. This creates a dilemma for the researcher confronted with the question of research, where theory exists but cannot be justified in their ...
