Introduction

Social work is defined by the International Federation of Child protective services workers and the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW) as "the social work profession promotes social change, problem solving in relationships human, and the empowerment and liberation of the people to enhance well-being. Principles of Human rights and social justice are fundamental to social work. " Social work in its various forms addresses the multiple and complex relationships between people and their environments. Its mission is to enable all people to develop their full potential, enrich their lives and prevent dysfunction. Therefore, the professionals in social work, become change agents in society and in the lives of individuals, families and communities they serve. Social work is an integrated and dynamic values, theory and practice interrelated.

The importance for us as social professionals working with communities is vital, because here we see that it meets a variety of professional roles that translated into daily tasks are fulfilled either, to mention some of these roles would be that of counselor , educator, coordinator, manager, scheduler etc.

The Child Protection Service or "Child Protective Services' (CPS) is a legally mandated state program designed to protect children from abuse and neglect, while at the same time, helps parents become better breeders. Each county in Maryland and Baltimore City has its own agency responsible for investigating reports of suspected abuse or neglect. In Maryland there are some people who are required by law to report suspected abuse or neglect, including school personnel, medical, police and those working in human services. Abuse or neglect of a minor is a serious problem that requires comprehensive attention and participation of all citizens. Anyone who suspects that a child has been abused, neglected or abandoned must report their concerns to the Department of Social Services or your local law enforcement, and can do so anonymously.

Discussion

Although it is best to keep children at home as long as possible, the safety of children is the ultimate goal. When child safety can be secured and maintained, establishing a variety of support services. Effective intervention requires that a child protective services worker to respond in a manner that is not critical or judgmental, but by offering the necessary help (Rae, McKenzie & Murray, 2010). If it is not likely to protect children at home, the child protective services worker (and police) have the authority to immediately remove the child from imminent danger.
