In the field of public safety and criminal justice, the level of professionalism is raised among U.S. Sheriffs through U.S. trade association under the program National Sheriffs' Association. NSA was found in 1940 as the voice for the sheriff in Washington, D.C. On the issues of public safety, criminal justice and law enforcement, NSA has proven to be a leading advocate and one of the greatest law enforcement organizations in the country. The purpose of NSA is to provide technical assistance, resources, information, opportunity of professional development, congressional advocacy, to all the practitioners of criminal justice. Different networking opportunities are provided through annual conferences made under this program. In these conferences, the homeland security, criminal justice and training of the sheriffs are the key issues of discussion.
