Abstract

ISO 9000 contains a collection of international standards for providing management obligations for maintaining and creating quality systems of the organization. At present, the literature based on ISO 9000 incorporates research which illustrates that whether ISO 9000 implementation in business organizations is bad or good for business operations. Moreover, many research papers are entirely based on the impact of the certification of ISO 9000 and ultimately stated different results (Zhelyazkov, 2008). Certification of ISO 9000 plays an inevitable role in business operations. Sales function is one of the most affected business operations by ISO 9000 certification. Several researches have shown the impact of ISO 9000 on sales operations within the business organizations.

Introduction

The research determines that whether average sales of such organizations which are ISO certified is greater than those organizations which are not ISO certified. This category of research helped in analyzing the effect of the certification of ISO 9000 on the performance and sales status of the organizations (Zhelyazkov, 2008). The research findings enlighten the dramatic increment in business sales due to the certification of ISO 9000. Organizations are taking advantage of certification of ISO 9000 with the help of increased sales. Consequently, it is increasing customer confidence and loyalty as well as provides larger customer base. Such organizations which are certified by ISO 9000 are recommended to invest their substantial amount of money in appropriate quality management systems (Anonymous, 2001). This paper will discuss meanings of ISO 9000, purpose of ISO 9000, history of ISO 9000, penetration of ISO 9000 in modern society, principles of ISO 9000, review of ISO 9000 requirements, effect of ISO 9000 on company's performance and effect of ISO 9000 on company's profitability. Moreover, paper will also focus on the company's business operations after the integration of ISO 9000 certification. In addition to this, paper intends to highlight the impacts of lack in ISO 9000 certification of company's profitability, performance and business operations. Moreover, implementation and recommendation of ISO 9000 certification are also focused in the paper (Anonymous, 2001).

The research on all of these factors will help in enhancing the performance of business organizations which is possible by the implementation of ISO 9000 certification. Almost all of the business organizations are struggling to become certified by ISO 9000. This certification is assisting in improving many business operations in the current age of recession. Due to become ISO 9000 certified, organizations are gearing up for success as it provides customer confidence and loyalty to the business organizations (Anonymous, 2001).
