Human Resource Interview & Staffing the Contemporary Organization- A Comparison
Introduction
In an attempt to write an interview paper, we interviewed Mr. Evan Jeremy from XYZ Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Jeremy is a Senior Human Resource Manager at the firm and has been working with the company for the last six years. The purpose of the interview was clearly communicated to Mr. Jeremy and a suitable time was sought for the interview. Before proceeding with the interview, it was made sure that Mr. Jeremy was comfortable and was well aware of the purpose of the interview. His decision to participate in the interview was completely voluntary. It was also communicated to him that he can opt to skip questions if he does not intend to answer the questions.
The questions for the interview were carefully designed and structured prior to the interview. The initial questions involved vital demographic information about the interviewee. The demographic questions i.e. age, location etc did not hold any relevance to the subject of the interview, but helped a great deal in developing a mental picture of Mr. Jeremy. It greatly helped us in drawing inferences based on the interview. The questions were carefully designed to extract information about the recruitment, selection and staffing operations of the company. Throughout the interview, Mr. Jeremy seemed interested in the interview and cooperated with us in giving a detailed analysis of the practices followed by his company and about the processes of recruitment, selection and staffing in organizations.
