Abstract

In this study we will try to explore the concept of “Best Practices” in Human Resource Management for hotels and resorts. The main focus of the research will be to reflect on the best practices in HRM and how they are implemented. The research will also analyze the effectiveness of HRM best practices on a company's overall performance and the influence of these practices on the employees of an organization. Finally the research describes various methods which are known as the best practices in Human Resource Management and their implementation effect.

The purpose of this paper is to enlighten and explore the significance of human resource management in organizations. This paper aims to enlighten different perspectives of human resource management; in addition, the paper discusses that the human resource management is concerned with employee management in hotels and resorts and its difference with personnel management. Human resource management has raised the status of personnel management in the US in recent years as personnel management is adopted by managers to advance their interests. This paper presents the importance of human resource management in hotel organizations in holistic manner. The paper discusses various approaches to highlight the importance of human resource management in the success of the organization. The paper proposed the method to carry out the final study, which is based on the qualitative technique. Utilizing this technique, both methods of data collection will be used by the researcher to further streamline the research activities with the thesis statement.

Introduction

The management of human resource defines the success or failure of any company. This area of human resource received attention of many researchers since past few decades. Researches in this regard disclosed that a firm can only get success or achieve its objectives in present competitive environment, if it is equipped with skilled and motivated human resource capital. However, when it comes to hospitality industry the importance of managing human resource effectively increases twice than other industries. The reason of giving this much attention to human resource in the hotel industry, because this industry is all about providing services to the people through the people. Thus, it is important for the hotels and resorts to manage their employees effectively which are based on the common sense theory that if you treat your employees well they will take care of your customers. Moreover, the performance of employees in this sector is directly linked with the revenues and growth of the business.
