Three reasons why learning and development needs arise for individuals and groups.Employee Training and Development is significant to the continuous organizational success. Technology and the Internet facilitate global competition and collaboration, but people are the core organization's strength. The training and development programs enable employees to acquire competencies and skills required to enhance the organization's performance and achieve the end results. There is countless reason for implanting training to the employees; however the three main reasons for learning and development are as follows.Maximization of Employee PotentialTo enhance the working potential of employees, the organizations undertake learning development initiatives. The management gauges the gaps which are found in employee performance. This is a collaborative process through which the established standard of performance is met. One of the major purposes of learning and development is to ensure that employees are able o work beyond their existing capacity (Robinson, 2008).

Weaknesses are addressed by the following ways:

Improvement in the Capability, Confidence, and Competence.Through the learning and development programs, employees feel support for their work, learning creates a progressive environment, and employee's performance is improved, sharing increases through the training programs. There is a wider impact on the organizational performance due to the improvement and the dissemination of information, networking, and ideas.

Enhancement of MotivationBeside the financial factors, the opportunity to learn and develop is a significant factor of employee motivation. When employees are going through work stress and low morale, the learning and training program are helpful in motivating their behavior, thus enhancing performance. The learning need arise by the employees motivating to learn in order to continuously grow and develop (Wexley, 2001).One of the key factors in employee motivation and retention is that employees want to grow the career enhancing skills. This keeps them motivated to the learning program. There are several reasons for which employees may prefer the training and development opportunities.The key goal of organization here is to wisely develop the human resource, since it encourages them to acquiring new skills and knowledge. This motivated learning and development programs create a collaborative environment where people further enhance their skills (Wexley, 2001).Organization's ProfitsThe business industry is competitive due to the advancement in technology. To survive the competition in the market, a firm needs to have intelligent and learned human resource that is familiar with the technology changes and preferences of customers. Training people in these new areas improves the company's strength and market presence. It is essential for companies who prefer a fair market presence and competition to undertake employee training and development programs. These programs help the business gaining profit margins as well as customer satisfaction (Mathis, 2007).Maximization of workforce potential has a direct positive affect on the business profit levels.
