Task-A

As a marketing manager of HTC Phones, my first task will be to conduct detailed marketing audit for HTC Phones. HTC is the manufacturer of mobile devices such as mobile (cellular) phones with touch screen smart phones and other mobile devices The purpose of this marketing audit is to formulate a suitable marketing strategy for HTC Phones (Wilson, 2002, Pp. 1-7).

Company Overview

On 5 November 2007 it was announced that HTC of the Google initiated Open Handset Alliance to the Linux -based mobile platform Android is connected. In the U.S. in fall 2008 that was G1 placed first Android device from HTC and T-Mobile on the market. The launch in Germany took place on 2 February 2009. On 5 January 2010 introduced the Google phone Nexus One in front, which is also manufactured by HTC. A year later, HTC was the GSMA selected the best equipment manufacturers 2011.

HTC introduced in 2008 ago around 70 percent of all Windows Mobile smart phones. The units are the subsidiaries Qtek (June 2006) and Dopod (since 2006, majority-owned by HTC) and through various resellers (including Orange, T -Mobile, Vodafone, O2) distributed. In Germany the sale goes directly under the HTC brand. In Austria, the first units were marketed in 2008 under the HTC branding. The retailers sell the equipment and provided with their own branding and name and also for the support charge. The first Windows CE smart phone was the Xda (2002). HTC's products are divided into the following device categories:

Touch-Phone: Mobile phones of the new Touch family, which are controlled via a touch screen by finger

PDA-phone: Pen-controlled mobile phone design Personal Digital Assistant (PDA)

Phone: Mobile phone with extensive hardware keyboard, partly also with touch screen

Mobile computers (pocket computer): Microsoft Windows Mobile (UMPC) - very small portable computer that is running Microsoft Windows Mobile with mobile phone functions.

Marketing Audit

Marketing audit is similar to the financial audit of HTC Phones. Marketing audit concerned with the appraisal and review of the current marketing activities. Through marketing audit, HTC has an opportunity to assess and reviews the entire marketing activity, facilitating them to review their past and present performances. It also provides the opportunity to appraise the future courses of action. It has been termed as an efficient tool for evaluating the proficiency of a marketing strategy, examining the objectives, strategies and policies of the marketing department of the company likewise as the mode and means applied in achieving these aims and goals. The marketing audit features are as important an equally applicable to both existing businesses and companies, and existing types of business and new projects. It does not matter whether it is large or small business. As in the case of preparing a business plan of international standard, the methodological foundations of the marketing audit for the giants of former mobile phone companies (such as Iphone).
