Introduction

There are many large health care organizations in the US. This essay describes the strategic plan of a selected health care organization that deals with severe issues regarding the nurse staffing, resource management, patient satisfaction and network growth. It is very imperative to address the major issues that create obstructions in the smooth operations of health care organizations and the best way to address the problems is to identify the major issues, develop a strategic plan and implement it.

Discussion

The American health care organization selected for this essay is Molina Health care. It is one of the largest health care organizations in the US that has spread to 9 stated of the United States. Molina is headquartered in Long Beach California and was founded in 1980 by C. David Molina. The organization earned 423rd rank in Fortune 500 in 2013. The small clinic named Molina Medical clinic started operations in 1980 is expanded to 30 clinics in Utah, New Mexico, Washington, Michigan, Texas, Ohio, Wisconsin, Florida, Illinois, South Carolina and Missouri. Government paid health care programs like Medicaid and SCHIP was focused by Molina healthcare and has become health maintenance organization - HMO in 1985 (Molina Healthcare, 2014).

The distance from a small clinic to a large health care organization was not easily covered by Molina healthcare. Different issues that obstructed in the operations of this healthcare organization were addressed by developing and implying an effective strategic plan that addressed all the issues (Swayne et. al, 2012). The major issues which are focused in this essay are network growth, nurse staffing, resource management and patient satisfaction.

Strategic Plan

Strategic planning is defined as organized and systematic process in which an organization plans to grow from current situation to desired situation. Strategic planning is a set of decision making criteria and all the plans that an organization implements to guide its activities. Every organization needs to implement a strategic plan to face all the issues very effectively, to expand and to be the best organization in the state. In the case of health organization strategic plan is as important as it is for a business (Swayne et. al, 2012).

Network Growth

Molina healthcare organization started from a small clinic in 1980 in California. At present the organization is a recognized healthcare organization in the United States. Although it was difficult to grow the network in 11 states of US but Molina did it very effectively. The healthcare organization is continues to provide quality services to all the patients and the goal of Molina is to deliver the extra care to all the patients. URAC a non profit and independent organization has accredited Molina 24 hour Nurse Advice Line. By continuous quality service and expansion of patients need Molina recognized the issue of patients and decided to expand its clinics.
