General Survey

Abstract-General Survey

The general survey starts with the first time encounter of the patient. The general survey includes the way in which healthcare provider or nurses perceives the appearance of the patient, in state of health, facial affect, demeanor or expression, gait, posture and grooming etc. in an adequate setting of health services, a general survey is necessary for every patient in every encounter of patient with a healthcare provider. It gives an overall view of the patient. This general survey is about Mr. Bob, who is 23 years old male, with fair complexion and sharp facial features. He was 5'11”in height with 75 kg which is approximately 165.3 lbs. his BMI was 23.1 which was observed normal according to his age and height. He seems to be quite active and was behaving in normal manner. Bob's temperature was observed as 102.2, which indicated slightly high fever, his skin was dry to some extent, and he was sweating continuously after some time. Pulse rate was recorded as 120 per minute. Respiratory rate was seen as 23 and blood pressure was observed as <120 and > 80. Mr. Bob informed healthcare provider with pain in his left part of the head and in chest with breathing and in lower back. He further added that he is not able to take food properly and feels lack of sleep.
