Introduction

The article “Pulling the Levers: Leadership, Public Service Motivation and Mission Valence”, emphasize on the public service motivation and leadership by finding the ways on which the organizational leaders can enhance the potential effects of public service motivation. Similarly, the article also focuses on the transformational leadership which is considered as a organizational factor linked with the higher public service motivation. Furthermore, this article portrays that the leadership in an organization always have an indirect effect on the mission valence through the influence on clarifying organizational goals and fostering public service motivation (Donald, 2009).

Not all leaders to adopt the same approach when interacting with employees under their supervision. Different strategies can be incorporated depending on the specific needs of the group but also as a leader's style of management. One approach of leadership, called transformational leadership, use the idealism and inspiration to increase motivation among workers. Transformational leadership includes intellectual stimulation, consideration of employees supervised, idealism and inspiration, when the direction of the company. This leadership style involves followers, focuses on the perception of senior management needs rather than basic survival, and increases awareness of the possible benefits of the efforts of the company. This can help build employee morale, even during difficult times for a business, as employees are asked to look at the bigger picture and provide positive results. When employees feel they are part of a team, this may increase motivation.

Transformational leaders are leaders who are able to infuse the rest of the group, some form of vision or inspiration that motivates them to transcend the common performance goals and make an effort in the interest collective. My company's mission philosophy would be more inclined towards transformational leadership and teamwork. Teamwork is a key to success, as two heads are better than one. In order to make sure all employees are working for the same purpose inclined towards the mission of the organization, it is mandatory that influential people are given roles; roles in which they can inspire and motivate people to work in the same direction and coordinate and collaborate with each other. Teamwork would be the key element for the mission of my organization. Transformational leaders actively seek to change personal values among followers so that they can go beyond their self-interest for the good of the organization. The policies I have mentioned would make sure that all employees are aligned on the same path, and each and every one recognize the mission of the organization. It would be the responsibility of the leader who would set the benchmark and “walk the talk” and make set an example which others can follow (Alonso, 2001).
