Shannon Question 1

What do you like most about yourself? Why?

I have the ability to fight and deal with tough situations, an ability that many people lack. I am an enthusiastic individual and can face difficulties in life courageously. I have the capability of coping with difficulties in life very positively. Whether I am facing a difficulty in a relationship or to studies, I have always solved my problems and have been successful in doing so. There have been instances in the past where I have positively handled challenging issues. Another ability of mine that I admire is effective time management. I can manage time very well which helps in completing my task on time which allows me to submit my assignments on time. This gives me an edge over others in the class as I get time to make required changes in my assignment to make it better. Completing my academic work gives me ample time for my two passions; music and sports.

2. Choose one situation below (either A or B). How would you handle it?

(B) Your parents always have helped you organize your schoolwork and extracurricular activities. At Andover, you are adjusting to a more rigorous academic program and exciting opportunities outside of class, not to mention fun time with friends. Managing your time is becoming a challenge.

I have always used my abilities to in school to stand out and complete my work on time. I have been able to manage time quite effectively which has helped me a lot in my curricular as well as extracurricular. Effective time management always helps me in finding time for sports, music and friends. I take things one at a time and complete one task at a time instead of doing everything at once. I have learnt that developing one's own studying schedule helps a lot. Being anxious or stressed does not help at all. I take advices from parents, teachers and friends when I face a situation that I cannot solve. When I face a situation where nothing goes right, I choose to stay calm and think over it. I seek advice from people I think will guide in the best manner. I am confident that, at Andover, I will manage my time just as effectively as I do it now.

If you were given one day and a budget of $1,000 to make a difference in your community, what would you do? Whom would you involve? What would you hope to achieve?

Vermont is known for community work and its religious spirit. People here love doing community work and are very kind hearted. If I were given $1,000 to make a difference in my community, I will first enlist volunteers that will help in community work. Volunteers will be assigned different tasks. First of all, a plan will be made which will define what work will be carried out and how it will be done. Community work will include helping the elderly, cleaning the roadside verges, collecting charity, helping ...
