Q.1. List and explain the five factors that contribute to heritage consistency.

Some of the factors that contribute towards the consistency of the heritage include factors, such as, socialization, acculturation, assimilation, love for culture and transferring to children.

Socialization

Socialization is the adaptation of social thought and emotional patterns through internalization of social norms. Socialization is a sociological term. It is, on the one hand, development of the personality due to the interaction with a specific, physical and social environment, on the other hand, the social relationships of individuals which are developed through the course of socializing of the relationships constituted. It encompasses both the deliberate and well-planned measures (education) and the unintended effects on the personality (Añonuevo, 2005).

Acculturation

Acculturation refers to the result of a process in which a person or group of them acquires a new culture (or aspects thereof), usually at the expense of their own culture involuntarily. One of the traditional external causes has been the colonization. Acculturation involved different levels of destruction, survival, domination, resistance, modification and adaptation of native cultures after contact with other cultures. In more recent times, the term has also been applied to the acquisition of the native culture by children from infancy at home (Añonuevo, 2005).

Assimilation

Assimilation refers to the sociology of the fusion of different social groups together, with a distinction between individual assimilation and the assimilation of groups for understanding the processes that are fundamental in the societal level. It empirically is the fusion of a minority with the majority in the foreground. Assimilation can be cultural (acquisition of language, customs and mores), structural (placement in the labor market, in the school system, etc.), social (contact with members of other groups) and emotional, as well (Añonuevo, 2005).

Intercultural marriages

Another factor that can play an important role in heritage consistency is the marriage that takes place between two individuals from different heritage and cultural backgrounds. This can have an effect on the personality of both the individuals involved in this marriage, and thus, contributes to heritage consistency (Añonuevo, 2005).

Media

Another factor that plays an important role in heritage consistency is media. In this globalised world, media play a very crucial role in every aspect of our life. Therefore, it can be said that, through media sources, people from different heritage and cultural backgrounds can get to know other cultures, which can in turn, result in heritage consistency (Añonuevo, 2005).
