Introduction

The criminal justice system comprises of pivotal institutions together with processes or practices, which primarily aim at halting and deterring any possible criminal practice, and to preserve the social control in the society. Moreover, the domain of criminal justice also plays a pivotal role in punishing and penalizing the ones who violate or break the law, by employing different penalties on them, based on the nature of crime committed (Janczewski & Colarik, 2008). In this paper we will study the criminal justice system with global perspective.

Impact of Globalisation on US Criminal Justice System

The international dimension of the crimes is the most significant aspect of globalisation. Moreover, the other significant aspects include transnational organized crime, legal and illegal immigrants and influence of technology on global criminality and the impact of diversified American culture on criminal justice system. In this dynamic environment, the criminal justice system of United States, particularly police, corrections and courts has been going through major challenges. These departments have been adapting to new structures of criminality (Warner, et al., 2010).

There has been an increasing significance of international cooperation. There are large threats on the border of United States and the emergence of new types of criminal practices. The response of United States to globalization in the area of criminal justice will need significant changes in policies and laws, which places great emphasis on training of practitioners and their education at governmental level. Moreover, the upcoming practitioners of criminal justice system are required to possess wider comprehension of legal system of various other countries. These practitioners are required to have respect for the customs and practices of immigrated population. Globalization has brought in increased number of international population that has brought in changes in immigrant laws of United States. In 1998, the government of United States adopted an international Crime Control strategy for the provision of framework for integration of all aspects of the responses of federal government to global crime. For combating the crimes with aggressive approach and for the substantial reduction of the impacts of crime on daily lives, the government of United States has verified eight broad goals and thirty implementing objectives (Ward, 2000).
