Introduction

Company Profile (Not-for-Profit) "AmeriCorps -College Possible”

College possible was previously known as “Admission possible is a well-known non-profit organization whose primary objective is to give admission to low income students in colleges and make them successful by providing quality education and assistance (College possible, 2012). This organization make effective use of recent college graduates by hiring them as mentor for students that are deprived from basic social needs and thus are not able to navigate from high school to college.

History of AmeriCorps-College possible

College possible was able to receive the charter of non-profit organization in September 2000 and at that period it was providing its services in only two twin cities high public schools and next spring. Seven or eight years later, organization was able to expand its services across seventeen schools and currently college possible is providing quality services in 19 schools of Minnesota, 10 schools in Wisconsin, and 6 schools in Nebraska. In addition to this, company has hired well experience professionals for every aspect of its business operation, and currently there are more than 10000 employees that are providing valuable services for the company.

Summary of activities

It is a real fact that students belonging from low income group are crushed by students belonging from high income background (Rugman & Verbeke, 2003). Most of these under privileged students face numerous hurdles in their way of academic success, for instance, the biggest barrier or hurdle they come across is lack of financial and social resources. However, college possible is of the view that the only way of reducing the poverty level of these individual is to provide the equal opportunities in mainstream world, and for that it has initiated three major activities that are listed below.

College possible arranges funds from several sources (personal funds, funds gathered from government sources including Corporation for government and community sources, stakeholders, community member and others)

College Possible is providing admission to low income students in colleges and is trying to transform their life by providing quality education with the help of intensive curriculum (College possible, 2012). In addition to this, college possible provides additional services that are listed as follows.

College possible since its incorporation is striving hard to bridge the gap between high level and low level income students by providing later with quality education under the guidance of experienced professionals and strong curriculum. However, company comes across with various obstacles that created barrier in accomplishment of long-term goals. Some of the major obstacles faced by the organization are listed as follows.
