Introduction

Conversation is a broad concept and not just a use of words and sentences to convey information. Communication involves more than words, conversation is mix of words, emotions, facial expressions, and postures. This is the reason why people misunderstand each other so frequently. These misunderstandings are commonly found in communication among men and women. How frequently we note our parents having a quarrel for no reason, and we sit back and think, why they are arguing on a simple matter. May be mother just wanted to have a chat with father, but father was not in a mood of a chat. This essay highlights some differences in men and women, which often lead to miscommunication between the genders. Most of the research focuses on men's weaknesses in understanding women; this research will highlight traits of men, which women should appreciate in order to understand men way of communication.

Discussion

The purpose of communication is to get your message across to others clearly and unambiguously, creating mutual understanding. Effective communication entails more than the mere sending and receiving of information; it must convey the sender's thoughts and ideas accurately so they are understood by the receiver. Communicating successfully thereby involves effort from both the sender and receiver of the message. Successful communication plays a pivotal role in developing positive relationships, working collaboratively, and establishing and maintaining trust. Effective communication enhances openness, trust, and greater idea stimulation for results & organizational development. However, when communication is unsuccessful, the thoughts and ideas may not necessarily reflect original intent and the resulting communication breakdown means work is not completed as planned or on time, staff members feel they do not have input into the decision-making process and ultimately a team is not successful (Avgerou, 2004).
