Introduction

In the contemporary global social environment, the traditional cuisines from various parts of the world; have now become mainstream fast-food items. The process of globalization has ensured that the cultural elements form one part of the global society can be easily accessed and reached by other global stakeholders (Cordell, 1992, pp. 12). Food cuisines such as Pizza, Chinese food, fried chicken and to a certain extent Chili have now become common items on the global platform. Even though these dishes which originated form specific regional areas are present in the global mainstream society, they are altered drastically in order to match the taste of the relevant consumers. It is due to this reason that these traditional dishes which are common in the various global societies are very different form their original forms. It is due to this reason that the culture and eth history of these cuisines has to be critically analyzed in order to understand the cultural significance. Cuisine is not an isolated part of a given society; rather it represents a cultural identity. The food item Chili is a highly popular cuisine, which has become a significant part of the western food culture. The original dish although is very different form the mainstream versions, it still has a part of the original Spanish culture. In the various western variations of the food cuisine the major components of the dish are altered, so as to match the tastes and the preferences of the consumers (Belasco & Scranton, 2002, pp. 4). The exact recipe of the dish is a very serious factor in the original geographic region, where the dish has its cultural roots. As the dish represents the part of the Spanish Culture, its various interpretations are taken meticulously, any change in the major components of the recipe, has to be in line with the traditional form of Chili. This problem however does not exist in the adopted societies of the world, which have changed the dish to match their own regional preferences (Civitello, 2011, pp. 67). This is the primary reason why the Chili dish which is found in the majority of the western countries would be highly different as compared to the original Spanish version. In the global; perspective the dish Chili has played a vital role in enhancing the globalization process, and help unify the various different forms of social cultures.

The traditional name for the Spanish cuisine Chili is 'Chili con Carne', which literally translates to spiced meat. The dish Chili was introduced in the mainstream American cultures through the San Antonio Chili stand in the year 1893. The stand introduced this spicy and novel dish to the mainstream American public, which instantly becomes very popular.
