Managing Business Activities to Achieve Results

Introduction

The term management refers to working with and through people by designing processes, organizing tasks, leading employees and controlling work to improve future performance of the team (Daft & Dorothy, 2009, p. 68). However, management does not simply end with a collection of diversified responsibilities in a narrowed role; the duty of a manager goes way beyond regular schedule work.

In order to achieve the desired outcomes, the managers have to design effective and efficient business processes, develop plans to implement those processes, monitor the operational progress after implementation to ensure effective outcomes, and above all assure the health and safety of the assigned employees. In order to understand the mentioned duties of the manager, an in depth understanding of the related factors is required.

Forming a combined output, these business processes take the form of a fluent procedural hierarchy known as the process chain. In turn, every business's process chain is designed keeping in mind the overall organizational objectives.

For instance, a car manufacturer working to produce a luxurious family car would be paying immense attention towards the creation of a related process chain. Since manufacturing of a car requires step by step processes, the chain would be based on interdependent individual processes such as body shaping, parts assembling, painting, finishing and finally testing. These processes are all dependent upon the preceding step, and therefore, would require ...
