Introduction

Managers and management of different companies differ in their communication styles. Different managers use different approaches for communicating with their employees, as well as, the management. This paper will look into two different forms of communication. It will also look into the differences of each methods discussed in the paper. It will also look into the different pros and cons of the different communication styles and will also throw light on the benefits of each. Lastly, the essay will also present a personal point of view of which of the two discussed communication styles is better for the management, the employees, as well as, the organization.



Discussion

Communication styles differ in different organizations. Different managers pursue different styles of communication to communicate with their employees. The two different types of communication styles that will be discussed in the paper are formal and informal style of communication.

Formal Style of Communication

The first style of communication that will be discussed is the formal type of communication. Formal communication is one of the types of downward communication. Formal communication occurs when a manger communicates with the employees in a formal way (Putnam, 2006). He communicates with the subordinates in a way that is formal and systematic. This style of communication does not allow any informal communication to occur between the manger and the employees and subordinates. Formal communication includes telling the subordinates and the employees about the expectations that the management has from them. This also includes telling the subordinates about the procedures of the company. Giving the employees feedback on their performance and jobs in a formal way is also a part of such communication style. The employees are also told about their jobs in such a way (Putnam, 2006).
