Plenum section is located between the raised floor and the structural ceiling of the telecommunications room. This section is important in such structures as it provides air circulation for ventilation, heating and air-conditioning. These processes are mandatory for a structured cabling system as they provide necessary cooling for the equipments in the telecommunications room.
Purpose of Riser Cabling
Riser cable is a cable that is placed between two floors in areas that are non-plenum. Riser cable includes a rope with an enormous tensile strength. It helps to support the cable`s weight when the cable dangles in an open channel.
Purpose of Horizontal Cabling
Horizontal cable connects the patch channel to the telecommunications outlet. This cable leads the signal from the computer to the patch channel and racks.
Cross Talk
Cross Talk
Cross Talk is a process in which a signal sent on one circuit has an unwanted effect on another circuit. It occurs when there is a leakage of the transmitted signal between the two wire pairs.
Current-flow through the conductor
When current flows through the conductor, an electric field is produced.
Induction
Induction is the defined as the production of voltage through a conductor upon exposure to an electric or magnetic field. When a telecommunication signal affects an adjacent circuit signal, induction is produced. Due to this induction, conversations between the two adjacent circuits get overlapped. This results in crosstalk.
Effect of distance between wires
The distance between the two adjacent wires corresponds to a decrease or increase in crosstalk. As the distance between the two wires gets decreased, induction increases. The induced current between the two wires increases. Increase in induction increases cross talk between the two wires.
Perpendicular wires affect on crosstalk
If the wires are perpendicular to each other, the induced current between them decreases to zero. This means that there will be no crosstalk between the two wires.
Noise
What is Noise?
Noise is simply everything that is electrical in the cable wire that is not part of the original signal. Noise is the sound in the system or environment that is unwanted or unnecessary. Noise can be defined by the total summation of disturbing or unwanted energy in a system. The source of noise can be natural or manmade (http://medim.sth.kth.se). In the electrical signal systems, noise proves to be a threat to the signal`s integrity. It can be produced by an ...
