A Good Practitioner/Teacher:

Assessment of Learning Needs of the Pupil:

Starting with the initial assessment the teacher would go about this by conducting interviews with new applicants and assessing their subject knowledge and also discover their learning style to plan their learning journey. Practitioner then decides his or her aims and records these on the students ILP (Individual learning plan). It is cited that you can start at any point within the teaching cycle for which is agreed by the teacher with as in the case of taking over a class. In order to assess students' needs it is important to be able to identify what would be the possible existing learning needs in the first place, in order to understand what to look for. (Sharlene, Leanne, 2009, 136-160)Application forms, enrolment forms, pre-course meetings and pre-course questionnaires will be used while recruiting the learners. Gathering the information about the strength of learners, their educational, professional and cultural background, knowledge, skills and attitude they currently possess and the expectations about how they will be getting benefited by the course. These pre-course communication provide the teacher an opportunity to learners in order to approach their teachers if they have any problem. (Julie, 2009, 465-478) For example, in HAFED a form is used that contains sections based on disabilities, childcare, ethnic background and financial assistance. These forms give an idea of how important it is to be open to your teacher if you have any problem. (Margaret, 2007, 56-112)

Curriculum Details:

The practitioner should have complete knowledge about the curriculum. What the curriculum contains, what should be a part of the curriculum and what should not be a part of the curriculum? The practitioner needs to have the knowledge about how he or she can take the curriculum along, what should be the learning pattern. The good practitioner is assumed to have proper knowledge and complete information about the curriculum. A good practitioner does not mean that teachers start preparing their pupils just for passing at the end of the year. And does not mean that the teacher are committed to their curriculum like a poor cook to their old cookbooks. (Morreale, 2008, 98-200)

An effective instructor means that the teacher should know how to develop their lessons on the basis of some standards, the students including interest of their own. They should build lessons in order to convey proper content at the required level which is engaging as well as educational. In order to develop an informative and appropriate curriculum, the teacher needs to understand the level of students, what background they have come from in terms of their previous education and what they will be studying in future plus the age level they will be teaching at.
