Introduction

Where it passes through Nottingham the River Trent is unique in the concentration of renowned sporting venues. However, the River Trent is currently an underused asset. Much more could be done to develop and realise the economic, regeneration, recreational and leisure potential offered by the River. Although the Riverside is a significant industrial and commercial area, as well as home to Notts County Football Club, it has a poor environment, and many underused sites and premises.
