Introduction

Since last year, the locality circumstances of the Cramedon High Street, a Metropolitan Estate located in one of the run down areas of London, UK have been above the surface. The crime rate and the increasing trend of anti-social activities in the locality have caused serious concerns and safety issues among the neighbourhood. The report discusses the prime concerns of the neighbourhood in relation to the increased anti-social behaviour and the crime scene incidents even in the day light.

The report highlights the major problems such as drugs, insecure neighbourhood, graffiti resulting from the loose policy making and negligence of the crime and law enforcing agencies. In response to the underscored issues and problems of the neighbourhood, the report also focuses on various solutions that can be taken into account to keep the crime rate low in the estate and bring peace and security to every member and resident families of the community.

Overview of the Crime Scene

The recent report of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODS) depicts decreasing trends in rates of crime and homicide throughout the world over the five year period ranging from year 2003-2008. United Kingdom, especially England, has also shown considerable reduction in the crime rate for the year 2012.

To state the fact, the Law enforcement agencies are established with the prime objective to ensure the safety and security of the residents of the estate and to keep the crime rate and the level of anti-social behaviour under control. To achieve this objective several strategies and neighbourhood policing plan have been designed in the past five years which were aimed at providing legal protection and safety to vulnerable families and individuals located in the Cramedon High Street.

However, last years has pinpointed numerous flaws and complications in the efficient and effective performance of the law enforcing agencies and it has put a question mark on their stability and credibility to ensure that their decisions and actions are fully complied with their prime objective. The crime rate has set records in the history of the estate by increasing the number of homicide deaths, street crimes, bullying of vulnerable families and an endless list of problems that have been faced by the neighbourhood. To quote the statistics of the crime scene, the rate of homicide was closely similar to that of the 30 homicides per 100,000 people in Guatemala (UNODC, 2012, p. 1).
