The Sierra Club

Introduction

Sierra Club is the oldest and largest base of employment-profit organizations and the protection and preservation. The club was founded in 1892 by John Muir and protects a group of passionate lovers of outdoor activities to Yosemite National Park from the waste and destruction and to promote conservation of natural forests of America. Muir served as the first president of the Sierra Club until his death in 1914 (William 72).

Sierra Club trains the young people about the sustaining global ecosystem and lobbying laws to protect the environment. In addition, the association organizes trips into the desert nationally and internationally. For over a century, the Sierra Club has played a crucial role in ensuring that millions of acres of wilderness for recreation, education and conservation. In defense of the animal world and bringing people into closer contact with nature, is the work of the Sierra Club announced a positive impact on the spiritual life of many (Turner 57).

Early Protection and Conservation

In the early years of the Sierra Club, an organization supporting the continued establishment of national parks and to erect a dam against efforts in protected areas. The most famous debate by the Sierra Club in the history of the United States for use in the desert led, was the proposal to dam Hetch Hetchy Valley in Yosemite National Park Tuolumne. After the 1906 earthquake that destroyed much of the city of San Francisco Mayor James D. Phelan proposed dam Hetch Hetchy Valley to provide a reservoir for the transport of fresh water and hydroelectric power in the city of San Francisco (Proctor 19). International Environment and Conservation

Although in the early years of the history of the Sierra Club in the center of attention for the protection and preservation of natural land is primarily an internal affair, in 1971 the organization expanded its mission to protect the global environment (Friedrich 42).
