Introduction

Sudan is located on the sub-Saharan Africa which extends from the Atlantic Ocean westward to the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean to the east. Discussion about Sudan with respect to different concepts are given below.

National Purpose

National Purpose of any state basically determines its reason of existence. National purpose also forms the basis of national identity. The national resilience of any country is to be judged by the degree of their consciousness and commitment to guard their values, traditions and honor, called the National Purpose. Sudan is a federal republic country at its most eminent degree or authority in conformity with a federal organization of authorities established on the Constitution and at the local level it is regularized by domestic councils acting in conformity with the law. The National purpose of Sudan is to check unity, participation, shura and mobilization, value for justness in the partition of wealth and power.

Major Adversary: The United States is a major adversary to Sudan because it is providing an excessive amount of financial and humanitarian aid to Sudan. The United States leads the way among all nations providing support to Sudan.

Minor Adversary: Sudan's minor adversaries are internal conflicts which are directly linked to the state of the nation. Rivalry between local communities , component states and religious groups, as well as potential uprisings can threaten the stability of Sudan's society (Adler, 1998).

Ideology

The State of Sudan is a country of racial and cultural harmony and religious tolerance. Sudan is an Islamic country, hence their ideology is based on Islamic beliefs. Sudanese government and people try to incorporate Islamic beliefs and values in everything that follow.

Major Adversary: There is no such adversary to Sudan's Ideology.

Minor Adversary: With an extensive variety of racial and cultural diversity, community ideas tend to threaten the national ideology. Of the entire population, majority are of the Islamic faith and have a preference toward Islamic ideas and living life according to Sharia law (Hawkes, 2003).

National Interest

Sudan's national concern maintains its people unified by the feeling of compromise and loyalty between its locals, co-operation in the fair and just allocation or power and or national assets The country and society shall act unitedly to further the feeling of rapprochement and national oneness among all Sudanese people, to defend versus religious parties, political sectarianism and to eradicate ethnic prejudices.

Major Adversary - Sudan has no major threats to its national interests.

Minor Adversary - Minor threats to Sudan's national interest are from internal borders. Uprising, terrorism, large scale organized crime, and inter community violence all cause threat to the national interest.
