Introduction

This paper addresses the requirement of training to enhance Information Technology skills of workers of a small organisation named as Xtra. In recent years the sales of the organisation has increased significantly and to incorporate new administrative, personal and marketing techniques, the higher management has decided to arrange proper trainings to enhance Information Technology skills of the workers. Currently, only 8 full-time workers are serving Xtra whilst 2 workers are working on part time basis. The basic purpose of the training of the staff is to give a boost to productivity and output of Xtra.

The higher management of Xtra conducted a survey which identified the following findings which are listed below:

Staff's deficiency in knowledge about Information Technology skills to use the innovative system

Staff is fearful of modifications in job roles/responsibilities

Introduction of e-Business would necessitate restructuring

Information Technology system would lead to increased market share

Innovative marketing strategy would be required

Management might use Information Technology system to make staff redundant

Although the company showed considerable growth and productivity but the recent survey showed that this trend has brought down a bit due to global recession. As the management has decided to implement e-Business system and this task couldn't be executed without training the staff. The paper has been divided into 5 tasks addressing the different phases of the implementation of Information Technology system.

Task 1: Identifying e-Business Requirements of Xtra

This part of the paper would identify the possible e-Business systems requirements for Xtra and gives a brief discussion on the constraints within which requirements would be specified.

The impact of e-commerce on the economy extends far beyond the worth of e-commerce activity. Business setups are using e-commerce to start and extend cut-throat benefit by providing more fruitful information, expanding choice, developing innovative services, streamlining purchasing processes and decreasing costs (Slater, 2002).

Numerous organisations have been involved in e-commerce (for instance trading electronically through proprietary systems like EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) for numerous years, and have had ample opportunities to does assess the benefits of the implementation of information and communication technologies in their business processes. Supply Chain Management has become known as a key lever in creating value for today's companies as they seek to decreased costs, increase asset productivity and enhance customer relationships. Supply chains exist in both service as well as manufacturing organisations. The research was executed for assessment and adoption an e-business strategy for our Xtra that plans to trade electronically with suppliers. The paper concludes with a brief recommendation of the managed implementation of an e-business system for Xtra.
