Abstract

In this study, we try to explore the concept of “Organizational Values” in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on “Organizational Values” and its relation with “GM (General Motors)”. The research also analyzes many aspects of “Organizational Values” and tries to gauge its effect on “GM (General Motors)”. Finally, the research describes various factors, which are responsible for “Organizational Values,” and tries to describe the overall effect of “Organizational Values” on “GM (General Motors)”.

Introduction

We can define the word “Organizational values” as the adequate standards that customarily regulate the behavior of an individual in an organization. If there are no organizational values, then employees will behave in ways that will be in line with their system of beliefs, and every employee will bring his own set of beliefs and values in the organization. Therefore, it is very important for an organization to define its value systems to make sure that employees will behave in a way that is in complete alignment with the mission and value of the organization (Allcorn 1995).

The strategic alignment between employee behavior and organizational values is very important. In this report, I have analyzed the strategic alignment of employees of GM (General Motors) with organizational values.

Organizational values of General Motors

In GM (General Motors), they have specified six organizational values to guide their employees:

1. Customer enthusiasm

2. Integrity

3. Teamwork

4. Innovation

5. Continuous improvement

6. Individual respect and responsibility
