Childhood obesity and poverty both are the effecting on the child's elementary Academics.

Introduction

Childhood obesity is increasing rapidly over the years. It has become the most common health problem children are facing these day globally and its not only effecting the developed nations it is also effecting the developing nations, including US, African-American and Hispanic children and the severely affected children are of low socio-economic status.

Urbanization, Globalization and the Nutrition Transition

Research's are being done in order to find the cause of the increase in obesity worldwide and focusing on the basic dietary changes which is known as the “nutrition transitions” that have been occurring with the developing world as the result of urbanization and globalization. The food system and consumer cultures are have now merged and are largely the reason for the changes in diet and consumption and the level of physical activities have gone down. As the globalization has spread there are companies promoting cheap oils and fats and consumptions of these fattening products have increased widely. Easy access to fast chains, vending machines, home deliveries at the doorsteps are all the points adding to the result of obesity. And with the rise in technology, outdoor sports are being ignore where physical activity was involved but now indoor games, television and all the other ways of entertainment that keeps the children in their houses (Jennifer, 2012).

Childhood Obesity's and Poverty's Effect on Education

Childhood obesity can have a great impact on child's life. Childhood obesity brings many health complications in itself which includes a low immune system, slow recover from injuries and diabetes. And as we have seen the effect of childhood obesity on the poor people it also affect their elementary academics because childhood obesity is higher in the low income areas, and when the children are affected by this, they don't have the resources to be well and then their education get effected. As all these health problems will come along the child's performance in school will be affected and they will tend to miss school resulting in lesser information and bad grades. And as every school goes through children fitness test the children with high fitness levels also scored higher in their academic subjects including math, English language and arts, This clearly shows the statement that children life with obesity also effects there education especially with poverty (Nelson, 2012),
