Introduction

Day-care is the provision of care for a child through either a day-care centre (nursery) or family-run, home day-care. As a sector, child care comprises 300 small businesses in this region that generate nearly £31 Million in gross receipts, and employ more than 950 people earning £16.2 Million annually. With easier access to a few key business supports, this sector has the potential to work even harder for the local economy. The project consists in establishing a daycares centre in London, which will offer early childhood education in a fun, relaxed, nurturing and homelike atmosphere. The centre will respond to today's growing need of working mothers. The centre will offer space to 50 kids up to 4 years. The daycares activities will include socialization, group play, reading aloud, dress-up/costume time and arts/crafts (Ennis, 2003, pp.78). Structure

The daycares centre will include: one large central hall for reception and indoor activities, this hall will be fully stocked with appropriate, developmentally-oriented toys, games, books and activities.

2 baby rooms equipped with cribs.

2 toddler rooms equipped with mattresses and audiovisual installations. These rooms serve for kids' quiet nap and TV / video projections.

An administrative office for filing and accounting.

A kitchen equipped with microwave, refrigerator, tables and chairs.

2 bathrooms with changing areas.

An outdoor area will include a fenced-in playground mainly for summer activities such as slides, swings, climbing and play structures.

Service Strategy

The daycares centre will focus on the following key elements: safety, cleanliness, discipline and entertainment. The centre will respond to today's growing need for childcare facilities.
