Introduction

The research chosen for critique is a qualitative study of Western Australian women's perceptions of using a Snoezelen room for breastfeeding during their postpartum hospital stay, by Huck. The paper will analyze the choice of data collection, analyses, and study design keeping in view the effectiveness of the results and referring to the literature review.

Research Critique

The purpose of this research is to conduct the study on the women's perception of the use of Snoezelen room. There is not much evidence on the use of Snoezelen room for maternity patients, but it is a leisure activity for the disabled people who involve an indoor enrichment using controllable stimuli to enhance relaxation and comfort. The study aim was to have an insight into the breastfeeding women's experience of using a Snoezelen room during hospitalization.

Reason for Choosing the Qualitative Methodology

Methodology is the careful reflection on theoretical and empirical evidence to understand reality, analyze its structure and internal dynamics, explore new components and new ways to understand and operate on it. This is the domain of literature, both as openness to new ways of viewing reality from theory so as to propose new frameworks based more accurate and useful characteristics and open to developing reality. Scientific research paradigms approach represents the ways of conceiving and developing the knowledge (Elder, 2006). The two main roads are the logical empirical Quantitative and Qualitative Constructive Interpretation. Within each, they are part of different methodologies and types of studies that have specifications and criteria of scientific rigor necessary for implementation. The study used a qualitative, experimental design in Osborne Park Hospital Australia This research used the qualitative methodology because it involves one of the investigations that attempt to link the descriptive findings with explanatory theories are social exclusion, citizenship, culture and political attitudes, justice of peace, modernization, participation, parties political and electoral processes. Works that seek to relate to the theory try to build a comprehensive and coherent framework that makes it possible to understand social phenomenon. It is understood that research reality is a series of factors or interaction between factors. The sample was drawn from the hospital which included the breastfeeding women. The interview was based on storytelling atmosphere where women shared their experiences being in the room and the change they observed in their emotions. This methodology was appropriate for the study since it moved the descriptive data collect and analysis through the emotional reaction of women towards the exploratory setting.

Why Using Qualitative Design

Qualitative research provides the main tool for valid inferences from the universe surveyed; the procedure is established by the rules of statistics that allow elements of the population known to be an opportunity selected sample.
